GrowGreen – Most Versatile Product

The GrowGreen Garden Hose is a 50-foot long expandable hose that you’ll definitely want to add to your arsenal this gardening season! If 50 feet is too long or too short for you, you can also choose to go with the 25, 75, or 100-foot as well!

The best-rated garden hose is space-efficient, so you don’t have to make a ton of space just for your hose! It starts out at a mere 17 feet, making it compact and light for carrying! It then expands to an impressive 50 feet with water pressure.

As soon as the water is out of the hose, it shrinks back to its original size!

If you’re worried about potential kinks, tangles, or snaps, then you’ll love this tool, as it doesn’t do any of that, so you have a consistent flow of water at all times.

The high-pressure-resistant latex can operate underwater pressure up to 145PSI/10bar! It features a free 8-way nozzle as well, including a flat, cone, soaker, full, angle, shower, mist, and center nozzle settings!

The only feature we weren’t fans of, was the plastic coupling at the base of the nozzle that can break rather easily if dropped on grass or cement when pressurized.

What We Liked

  • Very durable and resistant against high water pressure
  • No kinks or tangles
  • Easy to store, lightweight
  • Comes with 8-way nozzle

What We Didn’t Like

  • Plastic coupling at base of nozzle isn’t very durable

Kona – Best Overall Product

The Kona Heavy Duty Expandable Garden Water Hose is one of the best, if not the best on the market. It was so good that it made our editor’s favorite, which isn’t always easy to do! This versatile best garden hose comes in various sizes: 50 feet, 75 feet, and 100 feet.

But for the sake of the review, we’re going to be reviewing the garden hose 100 ft.

This durable garden hose features a triple-nature latex core, as well as a 48-ply nylon fabric for the ultimate in strength. You can put a ton of water pressure on this thing and it still wouldn’t break on you!

The product comes with brass fittings with a shut-off valve, making sure the connections stay put, not strip or crack like the cheaper plastic connectors tend to do.

This way, you can easily turn off the valve right at the source, instead of hauling yourself back to the house.

With no kinks or tangles, you never have to worry about constantly keeping it untangled or worrying about the flow of water being compromised.

It also comes with a free 9-way sprayer, which has an adjustable flow, so you can water everything just the way it needs without fussing with different attachments. We did notice the sprinkler to be a bit “cheap” feeling, so keep that in mind, however, it’s a free bonus!

What We Liked

  • No kinks or tangles
  • Very lightweight and easy to store
  • Very durable and powerful
  • Comes with 9-way sprayer
  • Comes in various sizes

What We Didn’t Like

  • Sprinkler add-on is a bit cheap feeling

LawnPRO – Most Durable Product

Are you looking for a durable expandable garden hose that will withstand being dropped or producing high pressure? Do yourself a favor and check out the LawnPRO Expanding Garden Hose. It’s sure to last you through all of the wear-and-tear you may put it through!

The LawnPRO is created without any seams, meaning you no longer have to worry about them rupturing and cracking. This is precisely why it qualifies as one of the most durable hoses on the market, today.

This expandable hose features copper fittings, as a highly-desired alternative. Copper is known for its durable and strong characteristics, which means it can be connected to just about any nozzle, sprinkler, or hose without it failing.

In contrast to the majority of garden hoses, the LawnTEC features removable fittings, which means if any threads become unusable or damaged, they can just be easily unscrewed and replaced.

With most short garden hoses, you have to take the time to roll them up and haul them over your shoulder. This can get tiresome; particularly if you’re out of shape or it’s hot where you live!

This product weighs less than 2.5 pounds, and even comes with a useful little storage bag so it stays protected and compact when stored. The company boasts the fact that even a child can carry this hose around, it’s so lightweight!

The only factor we could consider a “con” in this case, is that if the water pressure is somewhat low, the hose kind of contracts and almost pulls away from you a bit. However, it doesn’t really affect the user’s ability to water well.

What We Liked

  • Very lightweight and portable; includes carry bag
  • Both the hose, itself, and the fittings are very strong and durable
  • Removable/replaceable fittings

What We Didn’t Like

  • Hose tends to contract a bit when water pressure is low

VicTsing – Best Product for Extreme Weather Conditions

Do you worry about your hoses when it’s cold or super hot out but you know that you still have to tend to your garden? We understand! Most tend to crack when exposed to high or very low temperatures. Go ahead and check out the VicTsing Expanding Garden Hose if this is your case!

This hose expands up to three times of the original length to make it easy to reach longer distances, however, shrinks back up to its original size to make storage simple. This best expandable garden hose is super lightweight and also comes with a storage bag so you can carry it around anywhere you need with ease.

The solid brass fittings are made to withstand simple drops that other hoses can’t. The brass fittings will not break or corrode on you, and can even withstand temperatures from -5 degrees to 98 degrees Celsius! The built-in brass valve means that you don’t have to keep going back-and-forth to the faucet; just shut it off at the source!

The double-layer 100% natural latex core and solid outer weave make this hose durable up to 9 bar/130 PSI! It also works with most spray nozzles, so you don’t have to worry much about the weather.

We did notice, however, that the actual diameter of the hose isn’t as great as some of the other options on our list.

What We Liked

  • Works well in extreme temperatures
  • Hose and fittings are both very durable
  • Works with most spray nozzles

What We Didn’t Like

  • The diameter of the hose is smaller than some other options on our list

Gardenirvana – Most Lightweight Product

Do you have a difficult time hauling around a heavy garden hose? Do you dread going out there in the heat knowing you’ll be all sweaty and tired just because your hose is too much for you to handle? The Gardenirvana Expandable Garden Hose can help!

The lightweight hose is actually somewhat enjoyable to carry (as enjoyable as that could be). No more 20-30 lb. hoses will need to be lugged around; this hose weighs only a few pounds and takes up just a tiny amount of storage space!

Despite this, it expands up to three times its original size once water flows through it (with at least 4.5 bars of pressure) and shrinks back down once the pressure goes down!

This hose is made to last; made of triple-layer natural latex inner tubing, it’s absolutely one of the strongest on the market that you’ll find. Typically, hoses last you around 250 uses, whereas this one lasts up to 1,200! You can tell when it’s in your hands that it’s made of durable, high-quality material, too.

The bundle includes the hose, storage bag, 7-pattern spray nozzle, wall mount, 3 extra rubber washers, and a 2-way splitter. We were hard-pressed to find any option that included as many extras as the Gardenirvana did.

The only thing we could find that could be considered a “con” is that it draws back away from the user once the water pressure gets low. However, this is pretty standard.

What We Liked

  • Very lightweight and easy to store
  • Made of highly durable products both inside and outside
  • Comes with an array of useful additions

What We Didn’t Like

  • Draws back a bit once water pressure is low

How To Pick The Right Garden Hose For Your Needs

Technology is always improving, and that includes garden supplies! Expandable garden hoses come in all different levels of quality. As the market is so overpowered with a million different options (somewhere around there), it can be hard picking out the best expandable hose for you.

Not to worry; we’ve created an easy-to-use buying guide to help you select the perfect option for you and your needs!

You need a longer hose to suit your watering needs, however, many hoses come in a few different lengths, with the longest usually coming out to 100 feet.

Most people will not need a hose that long; think about it. Your current hose is probably less than 20 feet. We recommend going with a 50-foot option. That size usually suits the needs of anyone who doesn’t need it for a larger area, such as a farm.

Longer hoses are going to cost you more money, will take up more storage space, and will overall be more difficult to carry around and maneuver.

Your typical hose is generally just made up of rubber, vinyl, or a combination of both. Vinyl is typically the cheapest option, however, is also the lightest.

They are relatively durable but are also riskier as far as cracking goes.

We recommend going with a product made of some kind of rubber – particularly natural latex. Not only are they incredibly durable, but they can withstand drops and harsh weather conditions over time.

While rubber is the most durable option, it is often significantly more expensive than vinyl. They are also better at carrying hot water and are generally much less likely to develop kinks in them.

Aside from the hose, it’s also important to look into the materials the fittings are made up of. You don’t want them to consist of plastic, but rather a harder, more durable material like copper.

Plastic fittings are going to break after a couple of drops, and at that time, they can end up being virtually pointless to have around. Copper, removable fittings are ideal, as even though they’re durable, if for some reason they do break, you can simply unscrew them and replace them!

This is somewhat related to durability, and yet, entirely different. The strength of a gardening hose is measured regarding burst pressure. Some kinds of hoses are more prone to bursting than others; this is in regards to how much water pressure they can hold up.

We recommend a burst pressure of a minimum 350 psi, however, this obviously isn’t necessary. It all comes back to what your watering needs are.

While we’re sitting here talking about the length, it’s also very important to talk about the diameter of the new gardening hose. The most common measures somewhere between ¾ of an inch, and half an inch. These are measured based on the inside diameter.

As you get bigger in size, the more water is able to pass through. However, the bigger the diameter, the heavier it will be, and the more difficult it will be to maneuver.

While all expandable garden hoses should retain some acceptable level of flexibility, they all vary. A flexible hose not only means that it’s easier to maneuver, but it’s also easier to store and use if you’re working around corners or maneuvering around trees or bushes.

In contrast, the more flexibility a product has, the more likely it is to kink or tangle.

Extras are always a nice little bonus, but they aren’t usually included with every product. If this is something that is important to you, then make sure to read the descriptions carefully.

Many on this list actually contain various free extras that can make spending a little more on a higher quality hose worth it. These typically range from a sprayer attachment, some kind of storage hook, and/or a carrying bag.

Sometimes, they carry all of these things, and more!

Having a sprayer included is always nice, as this will not only save you money, but a trip to Home Depot, and also potentially purchasing a product that’s not even compatible with your hose in the first place!

For most shoppers, the price will be a big factor in their decision-making process. We can honestly tell you that when it comes to expandable garden hoses, the more you spend, the more you’ll probably end up saving, in the long run.

Cheaper hoses may save you money initially, but they’ll break on you quicker, and may not even do the job as well. This means you’ll have to end up buying another, more expensive hose. You might as well just get the best one the first time!

While it truly wasn’t the easiest thing picking out the best of the best, we had to go with the Kona Heavy-Duty Expandable. First of all, it comes in three convenient and versatile sizes to help fit whatever your watering projects are.

It features a triple-nature latex core, as well as a 48-ply nylon fabric to make it ultra-durable on the inside and out.

In addition, the brass fittings are also going to hold up well and not crack the first time it sees a hot sidewalk. The shut-off valve makes it convenient for you to simply turn the water off right there, instead of having to hop back-and-forth from the faucet.

Not only is it flexible, but it’s also very lightweight and easy to store. This means you won’t have to carry around a rolled-up 20-pound hose just to do something as simple as watering.

Oh, and don’t forget that it comes with a free 9-way sprayer with an adjustable flow so you can alter the water flow however you feel best.

We want to thank you for joining us, but now it’s time to go hit the “buy” button of the best expanding water hose for you!
